Has social media taught us to perform grief? Tuba lost her father, mother, and sister within the span of a year and nine months. As part of her mourning, she refuses to grieve on social media — no crying emojis, no photos of black roses, no somber profile pictures. She does not want her loved ones to become a source of social media engagement. Her loss, she says, is too sacred for social media. In the midst of all this, grief has taught her something unexpected: how to be more joyful.
